From a very young age, I had a budding passion for working with children. As a young girl, still in elementary school, I would spend my weekends in the church nursery helping with, playing with, and trying to hold all of the babies. I did quite a bit a babysitting throughout my adolescence, and knew that my heart belonged to early childhood. My passion for early childhood really took flight during my undergrad years as I majored in Early Childhood Education at Southern Wesleyan University and earned my Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education in 2012. Shortly after graduation I began working in a childcare facility as the Kindergarten Readiness teacher. I continued my career later as a preschool teacher at Seneca Baptist Preschool. In 2014, I moved to Texas and began working as a toddler teacher here at the coalition. In March of 2015, I took a position at Collaborative for Children as an assessor with the Texas Rising Star Quality Improvement Rating System and helped conduct assessments in over 200 childcare program across the 13 county Gulf Coast region. During my time with Collaborative, my passion for quality education for young children and families grew immensely and I began the journey toward attaining my masters in Early Childhood Studies with Policy and Advocacy at Walden University, which I will complete in the spring of 2017. I returned to the Coalition in June of 2016 and stepped into the director’s position in July. I could not be more excited to be a part of ChilCo, collaborating with each and every person who walks through our doors and supporting each child as they strive to reach their full potential! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my beautiful daughter, Raegan, and my family. I also like crafting, music, and simply enjoying life!

I've lived in Galveston for 12 years.
In that time I've restored two historic houses, fathered three kids (Georgia - 6, Lola - 3, and Peter - 1), and suffered through one really, really intense sunburn.
By day I'm the purchasing manager for a local construction company. By night I'm struggling to out-parent the rest of you.
My partner in life, Lauren, is a past president of ChilCo, so I know everything. All of it.
